Application #8. Computational Schlierens for Supersonic Retro-Propulsion
Computational schlierens for supersonic retropropulsion cases with single and triple jet configurations at Mach 4.6, 1.5M Re/ft conditions taken from the NASA Langley Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel test 1835.
The single jet case (upper) is at 20-degrees angle of attack and has a thrust coefficient, CT, of 2.0. The triple jet case (lower) is not at angle of attack and has a CT of 3. Both simulations were run on a ~30M node (~180M element) mesh and use the MDDES turbulence model.
